Bringing Spain to West Lafayette, INI was excited to share my 2019 travels in Spain with the Purdue community in West Lafayette. I came back to Greyhouse Coffee & Supply Co. with the photo exhibit "Glimpses of Spain," where I shared photos I took in Valencia, Catalonia, Andalusia, the Basque Country, and the Belearic Islands autonomous communities. The exhibit was unexpectedly interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. But once Greyhouse was able to safely reopen, I was happy that my photographs kept giving hope to its viewers of eventually going back to normal times and to traveling.

Earrings for my DesignerPurdue's 2018 Fashion Show featured as many as 18 designers with collections ranging from extravagant Victorian gowns to unbuttoned beach shirts. I collaborated with my designer Clara Paris to create a set of earrings for her "Sunday Robes" collection. Clara's collection was inspires by the hippie, free-breathing style of the 70's with a addition of chic luster of natural silk. My main inspiration was the artwork of Kathleen Whitaker, her minimalism and pristine tones in particular. I used natural stones, gold leaf, and gold wire to create a set of six earrings for Clara's models, who included myself :)
"PURDUE" + Long ExposureNegative temperatures and initial failures didn't stop me and Andrew Vuong from Pulse Pictures (https://pulsepicturesnola.weebly.com/) from creating this image. Our first experiments with shutter speed and light sources were not even close to being successful. But by trial and error and a pair of frozen hands, we set on the ultimate interval of 15 seconds and a flashlight on Andrew's Samsung (my iPhone was done with that cold at that point) to hand-write "PURDUE" in front of one of our school's most iconic landmarks, the Engineering Fountain.

Arno Rafael Minkkinen is a Finnish photographer now working in the U.S. His pictures are unique for their deceiving simplicity, while the process of their creation often involves testing limits of human abilities ("How to Work the Way I Work," http://www.arno-rafael-minkkinen.com/intro.html).
